Events Calendar

Architecture Week is the national annual celebration of architecture and arts in the built environment, you have an open invitation to join in by holding an event.  The theme this year is "how green is my space" offering a unique opportunity for everyone to become involved in thinking about design and the environment and to share issues about sustainaiblity, combating global warming, regneration and energy conservation.

Architecture Week provides you with the opporutnity to run an event to highlight ways to support environmental issues in a multitude of ways:

• open up your sustainable and regnenerated building and offer a guided tour to the general public or a school group
• give a talk about buildings, projects, spaces of special ecological or sustanainable design interest
• invite people to your design studio to dermonstrate how design contributes to the 'green' agenda
• lead a discussion, workshop or participative visioning event looking at the ecological design of buildings, partks, playgrounds or urban spaces
• hold an event with a school encouraging children to develop an interest in the design and maintenance of their surroundings
• organise an exhibition of your work demonstrating ecological and sustaianble design solutions or the innovative use of recycled materials
• present projects, buildings or public spaces at the design stage or on site explaining the design process and the engatement of the community in their design development.

RIBA chartered architects across the region will be exchanging their time for a donation to the charity Shelter by arranging to visit people's homes and giving them the opportunity to learn how their dreams might be turned to reality.
